I am a post-doctorate at University of South Florida in the Statistics and Mathematics department. My computer science research utilizes tools from topology, differential geometry to develop algorithms that can be used to understand the geometry and the topology of real-world data.
My thesis is titled : Constructing Desirable Scalar Fields for Morse Analysis on Meshes
The work in my thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is concerned with constructing geometry and symmetry aware scalar functions on a triangulated 2-manifold.
The method that are proposed methods are general and can be applied multiple areas such as parametrization, shape analysis, symmetry detection and segmentation. In the second part of the thesis we utilize Morse theory and our general-purpose scalar function analysis to give topologically consistent segmentation algorithms.
